报告内容简介

  Trabeculae carneae are considered embryologic remnants that play no functional role in the adult heart. Thickening of the ventricular wall and the trabeculae carneae as well as fibrosis of trabeculae carneae occurs in LV hypertrophy but its role in cardiac function remains unclear. The objectives of our study are to characterize the mechanical properties of trabeculae carneae and determine the contribution of trabeculae carneae to the LV diastolic compliance. Our results demonstrated that trabeculae carneae is softer than the myocardium and cutting trabeculae carneae increases the LV compliance in human hearts. These results suggest that cutting LV trabeculae carneae could be a potential approach to treat patients with diastolic heart failure.
