Abstract:
DNA mismatch repair (MMR) is a highly conserved biological pathway in all living organisms, and it plays a critical role in maintaining genomic stability. The genome-maintenance function of the pathway includes correcting DNA biosynthetic errors generated during DNA replication, suppressing DNA recombination between two divergent sequences, and signaling DNA damage response to trigger programmed cell death in cells with severe DNA damage. In this presentation, I will report our recent findings on MMR, which include how the MMR system is precisely regulated by genetic and epigenetic factors, as well as posttranslational modifications, and potential applications of MMR activities in cancer detection and therapy.
