The neuropsychiatric and human genetics group of SJTU is leaded by Professor HE Lin. This group has established the largest neuropsychiatric sample database in the country and has collected many monogenic disease pedigrees. As part of its findings, it successfully identified that IHH was the disease gene for Brach-dactyly A-1. The work was published in Nature Genetics. The discovery that ApoE was significantly associated with schizophrenia in China's Han population was awarded the NARSAD prize. .......more

From 1996 to 2000, SJTU won a total of 200 prizes at national and provincial levels.
In 1998, SJTU won prizes for its 20 projects in Shanghai Municipal Sci-Tech Progress Award, of which 3 were First Prizes, 6 Second Prizes and 11 Third Prizes, ranking Number One among all the universities and colleges in Shanghai. In 1999, SJTU gained 2 national Natural Science Awards, 4 national Sci-Tech Progress Awards, 51 provincial Sci-Tech Awards.
In 2002, SJTU gain 5 National Sci-Tech Progress Awards.
