As one of the first group of universities dealing with EMBA Program in China, Shanghai Jiao Tong University starts to launch Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) Program with approval from the Degree Administration Office of the State Council.
Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) is a graduate education aimed at the senior managerial staffs in enterprises or government business administration departments. The EMBA program of Shanghai Jiao Tong University is especially designed for the medium or high level managers on the upward phase of their career, focusing on helping the students broaden their horizons, enrich the knowledge in management, promote leadership, establish and expand the inter-personal relationship and business network, master the modern enterprise management theory and approaches of decision making, get in-depth knowledge of the commercial modes of international and domestic enterprises, acquire the capability and knowledge required for elaborating enterprise development strategy, conducting daily management and decision-making in the enterprise as well as leading the enterprise to participate in domestic and international competition under the complicated economic, social, and technical environment both inside and outside China, thus laying solid foundation for the students who have already assumed or will assume leadership.

| Qualifications of the applicant |
Good integrity and law abiding;
Bachelor or above;
8 years of working experience or above with five years experience in the management position or above; work in senior management of various large and medium scale enterprises, government economic administration departments, new economic organizations, famous private enterprises and financial institutions such as banking, securities, insurance, trust, leasing. The positions include Director of Board and deputy Director of Board, General Manager and Deputy General Manager, major medium level cadre and potential cadre;
Healthy, between the ages of 30-45 (exceptions allowed);
Students attending English taught classes are required to have high level of English proficiency, participate in discussions, complete assignments, and write reports in English;
The student's employer must agree to give two working days off for study in each month.

The applicant shall fill out the ˇ°Shanghai Jiao Tong University EMBA Pre-application Formˇ± which can be gotten from website or EMBA Office; then mail, fax, or e-mail to EMBA office. After verifying the qualification, official Application Form will be sent to the qualified applicants.
Registration fee: RMB 800 for domestic applicants; US$ 100 for overseas applicants.
EMBA matriculation exam will be organized independently by Shanghai Jiao Tong University according to the requirement of the Degree Administration Office of State Council and the National MBA Education Direction Committee. The EMBA matriculation exam will be held with written exam (comprehensive ability test) and interview by experts instead of traditional way.

Students will be selected based on the scores of the written and oral exam, while the learning ability, career achievements, leadership skills, and individual potential will also be taken into consideration.

A total of 300 students could be recruited this year and shall be divided into 5 classes mainly taught in English, including 3 classes with interpretation and 2 classes without interpretation.

The tuition is RMB 218,000, including faculty teaching, textbooks, materials, interpretation, provision of school resources (library, computer center, etc), thesis presentation, and coffee breaks. Accommodation and transportation fees for on-residence study session and the expense for overseas visit before graduation are not included.

The program is a part-time program with 4-day intensive study each month (Friday to next Monday). Usually the program lasts 20 months and elastic system is also adopted, and. The total study hours shall be not less than 500 hours, and the total extracurricular hours shall be not less than 1000 hours.

Diversified teaching methods are employed, such as classroom teaching, case study, management field practice, simulation, forum, assignment, overseas survey etc., mainly focus on case study.

Compared with MBA programs, the EMBA courses stress more on integration and decision-making, as well as on the application in actual environment and the confrontation with international competition. By referring to the curriculum of overseas EMBA Programs, the EMBA courses of Shanghai Jiao Tong University is divided into four modules: (1) Tool courses; (2) Elementary management courses; (3) Practical management courses; (4) Various concentration courses. The students should complete 20 courses (among which 15 are compulsory or core courses, and 5 are selective). Meanwhile, when the study period is over, under the guidance of the teacher, students are anticipated to submit a graduation thesis (such as topic research project, case study, integrated course report incorporating the management practices, etc.) and attend thesis presentation.

After successfully completing the courses and reaching the standards set by the school, each student will receive a degree of EMBA acknowledged by relevant state authority.
