ZHANG Wenjun , Vice President
Zhang Wenjun , CPC member, born in October 1963. Professor Zhang is vice president of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, professor and Supervisor of Doctoral Candidates.
Professor Zhang graduated from the department of Electronic Engineering of SJTU majoring in signal processing in July 1984 and received his doctorate in August 1989. He once served as director of the Institute of Image Processing and Pattern Recognition and dean of the School of Electronic, Information and Electric Engineering, SJTU. One of the nation's leading scholars of digital TV technology, Professor Zhang was appointed in 1995 to head the ¡°HDTV Prototype Development Scheme¡±, a key national science and technology project. Under his leadership, the team designed and developed the first HDTV in China, a breakthrough in the development of the country's digital TV technology. In recent years, his research has focused on a proprietary technology£¬the terrestrial wireless digital TV broadcasting solutions, and the work has placed him at the forefront of wireless access technologies. Professor Zhang's honors include Second Prize of National Science and Technology Development Award(2003), First Prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Development Award(2002), National May 4 th Medal for the youth, Ninth Five-year Plan Key Project Award for outstanding contributions. He was also elected Distinguished Figures in Science & Technology in Shanghai, one of Top Ten Outstanding Youth in Shanghai and Rising Star of Shanghai. Professor Zhang is a recipient of the Outstanding Contribution Award in Science and Technology issued by Shanghai municipality in 2003. Currently, Professor Zhang is one of the accredited professors in the ¡°Cheung Kong Scholars Program¡± sponsored by the Ministry of Education.
Professor Zhang Wenjun is in charge of the construction of faculty team, the construction of a digitalized university, library, and assist in the management of scientific research.
